 PROJECT HISTORY

Since Harinama and Prasadam distribution go hand-in-hand, Shastra dasa makes sure to combine both – the Holy Name is loudly chanted with the assistance of a good sound system and speakers throughout the FFL Distribution Program. The Holy Name pervades the whole atmosphere and overshadows the loud shouting of the eager, hungry people.

“Nagar” means “Village” and “Sankirtana” means to spread the glories of God (Krishna) – thus the Mayapur Nagar Sankirtana Department spreads the glories of God in the Villages of Mayapur through chanting His Holy Name and distributing Prasadam, food offered to Krishna.

It is a wonderful opportunity to please Srila Prabhupada and serve the Holy Dhama by sponsoring a village FFL program. The Prasadam (Kitchari) costs 7 rupees per plate (rich food filled with dahl and vegetables), thus to sponsor one program where approximately 300 people attend, costs Rs 2000 or US $ 40 (transport charges have been included). For a large village approximately 5 pots are needed.

Choose your favourite spot and a special day (your birthday, beloved one’s departure day, your marriage anniversary day etc) or become a regular sponsor.

Present spots visited:
Vharue Danga (Opposite the Yogapitha – birth place of Lord Caitanya – and Srivas  Thakura’s House)

Baman Pukur (Antardvipa, close to Jagannatha Temple)

Ballal Dhighi  (The lake dug by Prithu Maharaja is here, this is also where

Jayadeva Goswami composed the Dasavatara Stotram).

Hulor Ghat  (Boat area near Mayapura) (Rudradvipa)

 Taranpur (Near Murari Gupta’s House)

 Mollapara  (Antardvipa, near Ballal Dighi)

Navadvipa City (Place of Lord Nityananda’s Sankirtana pastimes and Vishnupriya Devi’s House)

Svarup Ganja (In Godrumadvipa, where Srila Bhaktivinode Thakura’s House is)

 Mahesh Ganja (Also in Godrumadvipa)

 Gaura-Nagar, Antardvipa

Thus presently you can choose between places in 3 of the 9 islands: Antardvipa – representing Atma-Nivedana, Total Surrender to the Lord Godrumadvipa – representing Kirtanam, Chanting of the Holy Name Rudradvipa – representing Sakhyam, serving the Lord in friendship
With your kind support we wish to cover all the nine islands in the near future!
